THEREDCRANEGALLERY
Classes in both eastern and western art are held weekly at the Red Crane Gallery in Canberra. Classes are open to students at all levels and are taught in small groups of up to 8. Students are encouraged to explore their own artistic expression both individually and as a group.
As an art student from an early age,Janet Twigg-Patterson applies techniques learned from masters of both Chinese and Western art. She teaches students how to observe nature and interpret it in artistic form, drawing on an extensive library covering both art and natural history. Classes cover all aspects including creation of art to mounting and framing, drawing on Janet's extensive experience both as an artist and an exhibition organiser.
Janet's teaching style focuses on building the basic vocabulary, and then exploring composition and landscape. This progression allows students to learn at their own pace, but stimaultes them to challenge their own artistic boundaries.Students gradaully build an artistic repertoire, often with minimum previous experience. The supportive atmosphere provides a development environment for both experienced artists and new-comers.
Classes are held on Tuesday monings and evenings, and workshops are held periodically.
